Who Are We?

Our team is headed by, Christiane Rogers, owner of Sensory Fun & Playroom. She has worked in the field of early childhood for more than 15 years. Her passion and dedication to children specifically children with disabilities, began at an early age. She started her own child-care facility, working with children with ADHD, ODD, and ASD, using "High Scope Learning Curriculum".

During her nearly 12 years of business, she acquired an Associate Degree in Early Childhood, a Bachelor's in General Studies with a focus on Communication.  She has continued her studies taking some graduate level courses in ABA Therapy, Autism, and other various Special Education classes.  She has future aspirations of becoming a Behavior Consultant.

What Do We Believe?

High Scope Learning Curriculum used the study of theorists such as: Dewey, Piaget, and Vygotsky. Dewey believed that children learn best while interacting with other people, using the curriculum and their learning experiences combined. Piaget believed children learn best in a natural environment. Vygotsky believed that social and cognitive development work together and build on each other. He also felt that the world children inhabit is shaped by their families, communities, social-economic  status, education, and culture.

Christiane Rogers believes that by setting up an environment that includes everyone, each of these beliefs is represented through movement, discovery, exploration, manipulation, creativity, and imagination. Children with disabilities  are supported in this environment by the stimulation of their vestibular system (inner ear) through various movement.

At Sensory Fun & Playroom, we provide an experience that offers play in an environment that supports parents and the special needs of their children.  It is a sensory play area that offers an environment of creativity, assurance, and stability.  Proprioception, self-movement, force, and body position is also supported in the gym helping motor control.  This space promotes kinesthetic learning, those who need to touch (tactile) and feel, act, and locate.

Various equipment is provided in the gym for the sensory needs of children.  The gym is equipped with:

*Therapy swings

*Tactile Mats

*Sensory manipulatives

*Ball Pit

*Yoga Balls

*Fidget toys; and other sensory stimulating materials and activities that also, help to build muscle groups, aid in motor control, and gross motor skills.

This space also encourages healthy and appropriate transitions, and assists in de-escalating challenging behavior, and engages children.

An inclusive environment, such as Sensory Fun & Playroom also helps to build social skills in a natural environment.  All children are welcome in this playroom.  Our facility can accommodate children between the ages of 2 and 10 years  of age. however some equipment may vary with weight limits.
